How to start using affirmations

Start using affirmations by writing down your desires in present tense and adding, “I am,” in front. For example, if you want to be wealthy, the affirmation would be, “I am wealthy.”

Next, write down your limiting beliefs. Turn those into positive statements and add I am in front of them. If your limiting belief is, “I’m too dumb to become wealthy.” Change that to, “I am smart enough to be wealthy.”

Record your own

Recording your affirmations using your own voice is said to be more helpful. You can use the default voice memo app on your phone to record your affirmations. You can also download an affirmations app that allows you to record your own, then loops them.


If you don’t want to record your own, you can use pre-recorded affirmations. Find some affirmations that align with your goals and are in a voice that soothes you. Download an app or search youtube for pre-recorded affirmations.

How to use affirmations

Consistency is the most important thing when using affirmations. You need to listen to them daily for them to be most effective.

Commit to daily listening

Commit to listening to your affirmations at least 5 minutes per day. The preferable time is morning or night. If possible listen to them at some point during the day.

Repeat them to yourself often

You should repeat the affirmations to yourself throughout the day as many times as you can think about them. There’s no limit on this and you want them to become constant loops in your mind.

Say them in the mirror

Looking yourself in the eye while you say your affirmations helps you convince yourself they’re true. This also helps you eliminate limiting beliefs.

Say them when you feel stressed

Saying your affirmations to yourself when you feel stressed is one of the most opportune times to use them. They will turn into a thought loop and reduce your stress.

Say them when you have negative thoughts

When you have negative thoughts, you should immediately start repeating your affirmations. Instead of allowing those negative thoughts to start looping, replace it with positive thought loops. They will have a more positive effect when you have replaced all of those negative thoughts with their opposite positive thoughts.

Say them with emotion

The more emotion you can incorporate into your affirmations, the more powerful they will become. Emotion is key when communicating with the universe and yourself. Feel strongly about your affirmations and believe in them with all your power.
